Maria Rocha - 04:42pm Jan 30, 2005 Irish (#5 of 31)

Hello everyone! My name is Maria and i live in Portugal. All my life i heard about my "nordic ancestors" storys. My father family members are tall, blue eyes, some dark hair, some blond, and i was born red.(now i'm grey and i use paint.....) I'm not sure if the storys are true or not. But, once i found in Scotland census of 1821(or it was 1881-sorry not sure)the surname "Rocha". The fact is that i identify myself very much to the celtic culture...since i remember as a person.Looks like my spiritual family is calling me. Hope anyone can help me.I'll appreciate that deeply! Maria Rocha

Sean O'Brien - 11:15pm Jan 31, 2005 Irish (#6 of 31)

Maria, the name might have originally been ROCHE from Ireland. Plenty of them here. I am reasonably sure they were originally - de Róiste - and must have come with the Anglo-Normans circa 1200AD!!! Seán O'Brien obriain1@ireland.com www.nearerthesunset.com
