Joy Lee Lynch - 02:20am May 14, 2005 Irish (#12 of 18)

I'm Joy and working now in Hawaii. My family name is Lynch. My family left Ireland during the early American colonial days. My great grandfather was Dudley P. Lynch and his father's name was John Calvin Lynch. They raised sheep in Eastern Kentucky. Their manner of speaking was changing short vowel of [a] to [o]. For example in the sentence:"You dropped your apple on the floor.", would be: "Ya drapped yar opple an the flar." I wonder if is this distinctive of any dialect in Western Ireland, or commonly spoken throughout Ireland?
